Campaign Story

I , unfortunately, am one of the over 59-million women in the U.S. who have trouble getting or staying pregnant. I have unexplained infertility…meaning there is literally not even a known reason why I am having so much trouble getting pregnant. A few years ago, I tried to get pregnant for over a year straight. I went through six IUI procedures, what was “supposed” to work for an otherwise healthy woman with no known fertility issues (other than being in a same-sex relationship).

When none of these IUIs took, we had to go the more invasive IVF route. After weeks of prepping and preparing, egg-retrieval day arrived and produced all good numbers, and 5 seemingly healthy embryos. However, two {failed} embryo transfers and a LOT of tests later, I am still here, longing for a baby.

The next step in this infertility journey for me is to try to get more answers as to why I have yet to see a positive pregnancy test, while starting over completely from the beginning at a new facility, with new doctors. Unfortunately I, like most women, do not have infertility coverage on my health insurance. This makes this process all the more stressful.

The first time, I did this journey mostly on my own. I did not reach out to friends and family…most did not even know we were trying. It made a lonely road, even darker. I am not one to ask for help, or even admit when I might need it. But this is bare bones me, reaching out.
